Tommy Horton

Tommy graduated from Manchester University in 2007 with a Masters in Engineering. He spent three years working in the mining industry in North America designing and building processing plants for AMEC and Fluor before moving into the city in 2010. Tommy was a corporate broker with RFC Ambrian until 2013, when he moved to MineARC to lead their Business Development for Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Tommy is currently an MBA student at London Business School.

Nick O'Reilly

Co-Chairman & Treasurer

Nick is a Director of Mining Analyst Consulting Ltd and Singularity ONE, a mining technology firm, and associate Principal for SRK Exploration. Nick provides his corporate and financial clients with geological and exploration advice, valuations, audit and due diligence services. He has over 14 years’ experience with projects ranging from grassroots stage through feasibility study to production across all major commodities. Nick is a Member of the AusIMM, a Fellow of the Geological Society of London. He holds a Masters in Mineral Project Appraisal from Imperial College London (Royal School of Mines) and a BSc. in Applied Geology from Leicester University.

Dr Toby Straus

Toby Strauss is the founder of Merlyn Consulting Ltd and is a Consultant Mining Advisor for Grant Thornton (UK) LLP. He holds a PhD and MSc in Economic Geology from Rhodes University, South Africa, and is accredited as a Chartered Geologist and European Geologist. Before founding Merlyn Consulting he worked for almost 20 years in the junior sector in both exploration and producing companies, mainly in Fennoscandia.

John McGloin

John was Chairman and CEO of Amara Mining Plc until its merger with Perseus Mining Plc in 2016 where, he has remained on the board as a non-exec director. He joined the Amara Group on 3 April 2012 as an Executive Director. A geologist and graduate of Camborne School of Mines, Mr McGloin worked for many years in Africa within the mining industry before moving into consultancy. Mr McGloin joined Arbuthnot Banking Group following 4 years at Evolution Securities as their mining analyst. Over the years, Mr McGloin has acted for many mining companies including African Platinum, Randgold Resources, Avocet Mining, European Goldfields and Titanium Resources Group. His most recent position prior to joining Amara was Head of Mining at Collins Stewart which he held from July 2010.

John was awarded the Association of Mining Analysts' Analyst of the Year Award in 2011.

Michael Stoner

Michael joined Peel Hunt in 2013 as a Mining Analyst covering a broad range of companies across commodities, with a specialism in precious metals. He previously worked in the mining teams at Evolution Securities and Edison Investment Research and holds an MSci in Geology from the Royal School of Mines. Michael joined the AMA committee in 2017 and was awarded AMA Mining Analyst of the Year award in 2015.

Catriona Beadel

Catriona Beadel is an Investment Analyst for Tembo Capital. She started her career as an exploration geologist with technical resource firm Salva Resources based in Brisbane, Australia, consulting to major mining companies in the Bowen and Galilee Basins, Queensland. Catriona then joined consultancy firm, Wardell Armstrong in the UK where she specialised in mineral resource estimation for several international projects. Prior to this, Catriona completed internships with BlackRock Asset Management’s natural resources team and with CD Capital, both in London. Catriona holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology at Imperial College, London and an M.Sc. in Metals & Energy Finance from Imperial College Business School and the Royal School of Mines.

Emily Fenton

Emily is a mining and metals specialist within Tavistock’s natural resources practice. She advises AIM, ASX, FTSE, JSE, NSX, TSX listed and private companies providing strategic communications advice. She has extensive experience in IPOs, M&A activity (having advised on plus £1bn of transactions), crisis management as well as financial calendar work. Emily joined Tavistock in January 2011, prior to this she spent three years at a top five AIM and leading natural resources PR agency based in the City of London. Emily has also gained the Mining for Bankers Certificate from the Imperial College of London and holds a degree in Geography from Newcastle University.

Richard Hatch

Richard Hatch

Richard joined RBC Capital Markets in 2010 and is based in London. Having initially worked on RBC’s oil and gas equity research team, he moved to the metals and mining team in September 2011. Richard provides research coverage on the Diamond and PGM sectors, as well as the South African and Continental African Gold sectors. Richard is a Chartered Accountant and holds a BSc in accounting with law from the University of East Anglia.

Elizabeth Johnson

Elizabeth is a mining corporate broking specialist with over 10 years experience in the sector most recently at FinnCap where she acted for a number of clients including Petra Diamonds, Pan African Resources, African Diamonds, Lucara Diamonds and Kiwara. Prior to this she ran the resources sales team at Objective Capital, a research boutique covering mining companies both listed (TSX/ASX/AIM) and private.  Elizabeth holds a degree in mathematics from Edinburgh University.
